Tung and I had an interesting day today Duc, judging by his reaction to the Fonterra plant (my contact had to draw a name out of the hat to ‘reward’ the staff member that got to lead the tour so he was not the only one having a good time!) he had a good (and mind boggling) day. The technology and methodology seemed to really get his brain working in overdrive. I have an email asking us back any time for more tours because the butter plant staff felt left out!! I have attached a photo of Tung and my contact Donna for your interest.
He also saw computer chips for police cars being assembled by robotic arms while Hira and I had a meeting with the procurement staff.
Also plenty of time for discussion on the way forward for the Vietnam market. how do you create a niche that is difficult to challenge being the theme. Blank consumables alone are not the way to do this, while part of the mix it will not build a market base that is protected was the consensus – too easily stolen away.
I have also arranged a tour of the ‘Tiptop’ factory… New Zealand’s favourite ice-cream which is also owned by Fonterra. The systems and methods are pretty cool, my contact David assured that he will be introduced to the best ice cream on the market! I warned him about the after effects of too much sugar… we will wait and see if he listens!!!! The operations manager will be personally taking him through as he is Vietnamese and it should be easier.
He will also be exposed to RF (radio frequency technology) coupled with barcoding for picking and packing goods at another company that is the DC for an apparel line hopefully on Friday. The systems are advanced.. but the logic the basis behind what we do. They also use a print on demand courier solution that he will be shown.
